On 8/20/09 at around 22:30hrs the Fallowfield Twp. Vol. Fire Co. responded to reports of a tree on a vehicle in the 1200 block of route 481 in Fallowfield.

Chief 47 (Fleming) arrived on scene to find a large tree that had fallen onto a vehicle as it was driving by. After making access through the tree and verifying that no power lines were present it was determined that two occupants were trapped and injured.

The Brush Truck crew arrived first and split into patient care and tree removal via chain saws. Once the tree was removed the Rescue/Engine crew of 3 along with Asst. Chief Popelas began stabilizing the vehicle and setting up the Genesis Rescue System. The patients were extricated from the vehicle in about 10 minutes and turned over to EMS for further evaluation. Crews remained on scene assisted the tow truck operator and Penn Dot crews with clean up.
